The Tasmanian Government aims to attract private investment in the provision of a high quality sustainable tourism development at Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park.
The Tasmanian Government is seeking suitable partner(s) to develop a new iconic tourism experience at the Cradle Mountain Gateway Precinct, located on the edge of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. The Government will contribute up to $5 million as part of a co-investment to develop this iconic experience at this unique site.
The Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park is one of Australia's most special places and a major drawcard for tourists to visit Tasmania. A world-renowned heritage precinct and national park which forms part of the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It is a destination featuring wild and beautiful landscapes and a pristine natural environment.
It is envisaged that the unique tourism offering will include food and beverage services, accommodation, experiential leisure and appropritate retail. Proposals should have a strong focus on showcasing Tasmanian artisan producers and highlight the connection to the wilderness location.
Development within the Cradle Mountain Gateway Precinct will be world-class, recognising the iconic nature of the area whilst also being appropriate for a site as significant as Cradle Mountain. It is important that the development respects the natural and cultural values of the surrounding environment and is anchored by World Heritage values.
